WHAT'S INCLUDED
Our Bookkeeping Services
Running a small business means wearing a dozen hats, and bookkeeping is rarely the one any owner wants to wear. Yet it's the hat that determines whether every other decision you make is built on solid ground. At Bedrock, comprehensive bookkeeping means more than entering numbers into a spreadsheet, it means maintaining an accurate, organized, up-to-date record of every dollar that moves through your business. This includes categorizing income and expenses, reconciling your bank and credit card accounts each month, tracking accounts payable and receivable, managing payroll entries, and ensuring your financial records stay clean and audit-ready year-round. When your books are handled this thoroughly, you're never caught off guard, not by a tax deadline, not by a loan application, not by a question from your CPA. You simply have the answer, because the work has already been done.
What's Included in Your Bookkeeping
Numbers only matter if you can understand what they're telling you. Part of what we provide is regular financial reporting, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, translated out of accounting jargon and into language that makes sense for how you actually run your business. Instead of staring at a spreadsheet wondering what it means, you'll receive reports that tell you a story: where your money is coming from, where it's going, and what that means for your next decision. This is where bookkeeping stops being a back-office task and starts becoming a tool. Business owners who understand their numbers make faster, more confident decisions about hiring, about pricing, about whether this is the year to expand or the year to tighten up.
Financial Reporting You Can Actually Understand
Many business owners come to us not because they want better bookkeeping, but because their bookkeeping has fallen behind and they don't know how to fix it. If your records are months or even years out of date, that's not a unique problem, and it's not one you need to solve alone. We specialize in reviewing disorganized or incomplete financial records, identifying gaps and errors, and bringing everything current so you walk away with clean books and a clear starting point, regardless of how far behind things had gotten. This service exists specifically to remove the anxiety around "I know my books are a mess" and replace it with a concrete plan to fix it.
Catch-Up and Cleanup Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping done well naturally leads to bigger questions: Should I be saving more for taxes? Can I afford to bring on another employee? Is this the right time to take out a loan? We don't just hand you a report and walk away, we help you interpret what it means for your business and where you're headed. This advisory layer is what separates simple data entry from a real financial partnership. You're not just getting your numbers recorded; you're gaining a second set of eyes that understands your business and can help you think through decisions before you make them.
Advisory and Strategic Insight
THE VALUE
Why Bookkeeping Matters
It's easy to view bookkeeping as a compliance task, something you do because the IRS requires it, not because it adds value. But that view sells the work short. Accurate, current bookkeeping is one of the highest-leverage investments a small business can make, for three concrete reasons.
It gives back your time. Every hour you spend reconciling transactions, chasing down a missing receipt, or trying to remember why a deposit doesn't match an invoice is an hour you're not spending on the parts of your business that actually grow it, serving customers, refining your product, building relationships. Outsourcing your bookkeeping isn't an expense; it's a transfer of your most limited resource back into the work only you can do.
It gives you clarity. Most business owners don't lack ambition or work ethic, they lack visibility into their own numbers. Without clear, current financial records, decisions get made on instinct rather than information. With accurate books and clear reporting, you always know your true financial position: how much you're actually making, where your money is going, and whether the business is healthy enough to support the next move you're considering.
It protects you. Clean books make tax season faster and less stressful, reduce the risk of costly errors or missed deductions, and put you in a stronger position if you ever need to apply for a loan, bring on an investor, or undergo an audit. Lenders and partners take a business more seriously when its financial records are organized and professional, and that credibility is built well before you ever need it.
In short, good bookkeeping isn't a back-office formality. It's the foundation that everything else in your business gets built on.
OUR PROCESS
What to Expect
Getting started with Bedrock is designed to be simple and low-friction, with clear expectations at every stage so you always know what's happening and what, if anything, is needed from you.
01
Free Consultation
The process begins with a no-obligation conversation about your business. We'll discuss your current bookkeeping situation, whether you're starting fresh, switching from another provider, or catching up after falling behind, along with the size and structure of your business, your industry, and what you're hoping to get out of working with a bookkeeper so that we have a clear understanding of your needs. From your side, all that's needed is a general picture of where things stand today.
02
Custom Proposal
Based on that conversation, we'll put together a proposal built specifically around your business, the services you actually need, scoped to your transaction volume, employee count, and complexity. There's no generic package here; every engagement is tailored, so you're never paying for services that don't apply to you. You'll have the chance to ask questions and adjust the scope before anything is finalized.
03
Onboarding
Once you're ready to move forward, we'll guide you through a straightforward onboarding process. This typically involves granting secure access to your relevant financial accounts (bank, credit card, and accounting software), gathering any historical records needed if catch-up work is involved, and setting up your bookkeeping system in QuickBooks or your preferred platform. We handle the heavy lifting here. Your role is mainly providing access and answering a few questions about how your business operates.
04
With onboarding complete, we move into the regular rhythm of your bookkeeping engagement. Transactions are categorized, accounts are reconciled, and your books are maintained on a consistent schedule. During this phase, your involvement is intentionally light, generally limited to providing any missing documentation we flag (like a receipt for an unclear transaction) and being available for occasional questions about specific expenses or income items.
Ongoing Bookkeeping
05
You'll receive regular financial reports, along with periodic check-ins to review what those numbers mean and discuss anything relevant to your business's direction. This is your opportunity to ask questions, flag changes in your business, or talk through upcoming decisions. The goal is for you to never feel disconnected from your own numbers. You'll always have a clear, current picture of where your business stands, and a partner to help you make sense of it.
Regular Reporting and Check-Ins
Throughout this entire process, the underlying goal stays the same: give you back your time, give you clarity over your finances, and give you the confidence to make decisions knowing your numbers are accurate and current. That's what it means for your books to be something you can build on.
